Beijing key laboratory of Flow and Heat Transfer of Phase Changing in Micro and Small Scale is affiliated to School of Mechanical, Electronic and Control Engineering, Beijing Jiaotong University, mainly including Institute of Thermal engineering, Power and Energy Engineering Department, Institute of Magnetic Fluid and Institute of Rail Transport Metallic Materials. Engaged researches of the laboratory are based on the discipline of “power engineering and engineering thermal physics”, which is one of the main discipline of key construction projects of Beijing Jiaotong University such as National “Project 211” and the Superiority Discipline Innovation Platforms. Laboratory has gradually formed several high level research direction after years of construction and development, such as fluid flow and heat transfer strengthening research in micro scale, flow and heat transfer in microscale boiling and condensation process, theory and technology research of Nano fluid flow and heat transfer , high-energy beam metal phase change heat transfer research .
The Laboratory occupies an area of 1750 m2 and obtains research equipment with a total value of 18 million RMB. At present, we have 25 fixed faculties, including 1 distinguished professor of “Yangtze Scholars Plan”, 1 professor of Education Ministry’s New Century Talents Program, 11 professors, 10 associate professors and senior Engineer, 3 lecturers who have Ph.D degree and 1 engineer.
In recent 3 years, we successively undertook more than 100 academic projects from the government and enterprises, won a second prize of state award for inventions, a First prize and a second prize of Beijing science and technology award. Moreover, one doctoral graduate student got a designation of Beijing Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation in 2012. We have published more than 100 papers in famous international academic journals, jointly cultivated doctoral students with many famous universities abroad. We took charge of and completed the energy and environment project of China-Europe, besides, we undertook National Natural Science Foundation of the United States with the University of Auckland.
Beijing key laboratory of Flow and Heat Transfer of Phase Changing in Micro and Small Scale get grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China for many years. In recent years, we set up nearly 20 projects for the National Natural Science Foundation, and had made important research results in fundamental research and the physical mechanism in micro scale flow and phase change heat transfer field. One Doctoral dissertation guided by Professor Jia Li evaluated the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation in Beijing in 2012, and get the Nomination awards of the national outstanding Doctoral dissertations in 2013. Professor Li Decai was awarded ”Changjiang Scholar” in 2012 by the national ministry of education, his research team was selected into the “Innovation Team Development Plan” by the ministry of education. We successfully hosted the “2th International Conference on Thermal Science and Engineering”, hundreds of scholars from 11 countries and regions participated.

Research content: Nano fluid pulsating heat pipe flow and heat transfer mechanism research; Nano-line movement characteristics within complex physical field; Theory and application of nanometer magnetorheological fluid.
